Local municipalities have been fiscally hand-strung by arbitration decisions awarding millions of dollars to more than well-compensated public sector workers, who make between 15-30% more than their private sector counterparts. Instead of driving up property taxes on young families, on seniors and on hard-working folks across the Province, we need to reform our arbitration system to realize that places like Smiths Falls have a different capacity to pay than Windsor or Sudbury or Toronto do.Read more

Carleton Place – On Friday, the first seven Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) were presented to the recipients of the Canadian Heartland Community AED Challenge.
