Hillier calls for 1-1 ratio for electricians

Randy Hillier, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington, spoke in the House on Wednesday May 29th reviewing his experience as an electrician presenting to the College of Trade's electrician ratio review.

He recounts how over 98% of written submissions to the review called for the lowering the ratio of journeymen to apprentices in the electrical trade from three-to-one to one-to-one. By lowering the ratio, Ontario can create thousands of high paying jobs for Ontario's youth.

It would create a lot of work for Ontario’s youth but it would result in massive job losses for older journeymen like myself. This is just an attempt by the contractors to get cheap labour and I don’t know Randy why you have to constantly pander to them and not constituents like myself. Alberta/Sask here I come with all the other experienced tradesmen, talk about a brain drain.
