Tomorrow I will be releasing my full debate on the State of Emergency extension where I express the need for representative democracy to be brought back to the Ontario Legislature.

Let me be clear; ending the State of Emergency in Ontario does not mean the immediate lifting of restrictions put in place for public safety. It means returning the unilateral and absolute authorities that the House granted to Premier Ford at the outset of the pandemic, back to the House where they belong. 

At present the Act gives Premier Ford omnipotent power to act unilaterally and without the consent of, or any accountability to, your elected representative. Do we really need to continue with all this power consolidated in one person in order to manage our way through this crisis? Will we return to democracy, or must we remain under autocratic rule?
