Uniform Delivery Rates

At the beginning of the year, Hydro One moved to a system of fixed delivery rates in an effort to mitigate the public outcry related to high delivery rates. However, these fixed rates suffer from the same issues as the previous system as rates vary greatly depending on where you live, with rural residences paying more than 3x the cost of urban ratepayers. This petition calls on the government to create uniform delivery rates which would apply a fair and reasonable rate for all electricity customers in Ontario.

A Petition to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario –

UNIFORM DELIVERY RATES FOR ELECTRICITY

To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
Whereas Ontario is the only province in Canada to charge a delivery fee for electricity;

And Whereas, since the government insists on continuing to use delivery fees to disguise the true cost of electricity;

And Whereas, the government has now moved to introduce flat rate delivery fees;

We, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:
That the Government of Ontario develop a uniform delivery rate that is equal and affordable for all of Ontario.
