Well said Ont Pit Bull Co-op, I am a Liberal voter and even I knew what they were unjustly doing when it was done, I just never expected this bill to fly and was shocked when it did. Congratulations on a well earned and just victory!

Thank you Janice, cited facts are always important. As far is the pro BSL and “pitbull” haters? They will always exist in their ill informed world. Haters gonna hate..who cares this ban is getting overturned! and FYI for people like Scott, there are many of these type of dogs that are amazing family dogs that have never done wrong. This is essentially racial profiling you are doing, its wrong for people and its wrong for dogs. Instead of wasting all this time spewing hate maybe use the time to educate yourself. Thanks a million Randy for all you do!

Finally! Punish the deed, not the breed! As a former owner of one of the targeted breeds, I have seen first hand how loyal and loving these dogs can be when they are LOVED and not used for criminal activity. Like a previous poster said, criminals don’t care aboit the law, so BSL has done nothing to curb the REAL PROBLEM. All it has done is target law abiding pet owners and probably increased the amount of illegal puppy mills. Tell me, how is that a good thing?

I am definitely for the new bill against BSL!!!!! When will people realize that it is not and never eat the type of breed the dog is but how the owners raise them!? If im not mistaken they are always changing the types of breeds that are a threat! Pitties dobs rotties Shepards…yupp the old police dog. When will the people be a threat? I am a dog groomer and I see ALL kinda of nasty dogs. From chihuahuas shih Tzus schnauzers you know all those cute little ones? Get rid of BSL!!!!!!!!! Please!

Where did you get your facts? After much research for my thesis ( and in the onset I was not sure which side I chose to defend) the facts support that dog bites and attacks indeed did NOT go down when this ban was put into place! There were never any cold, hard facts or figures as to which breeds did the biting BUT OVER ALL BITES DID NOT GO DOWN WITH THIS BAN. We are one of the few ( and I do mean few) narrow-minded places that has unfairly labeled this breed dangerous, so is the rest of the world wrong sir? I’ve never owned this breed but what I DO know is that when I moved off Rondeau Bay, Ontario with my 6 year old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever and began leashing her and walking her in a city it was the Yorkies and Shitzus that BIT MY DOG when she tried to greet them because she is well socialized but they WERE NOT! Biters come in all sizes, but biters are made because of poor training by silly people that treat their dogs like spoiled children instead of DOGS. Go do some more research .., Haters will be haters no matter how unjust they may be

Thank you for reintroducing this bill. I have been a past owner of this breed and they are just angels all they want to do is cuddle. It’s owners faults if they become violent not the breed.

As a past owner of this breed (4 beautiful angels) I would consider myself very knowledgeable on the breed and its unique characteristics. The BSL was put in place in response to a handful of violant dog attacks on people within a small timeframe by “pitbull-like” dogs… (uhh?? ) and so begins the hysteria… and the ignorance of people who know NOTHING about the breed. FYI, judging a breed is like stereotyping a race. Its not right and it shouldn’t be done. Period. Understand the breed and their unique traits and then adjust your training accordingly. Pitbulls are people dogs who are deeply loyal to their humans and without proper socialization CAN BE alpha agressive to other animals (and thats not always the case, since each dog IS different). They are easily trained, very smart and thrive in a family environment. .. probably why police forces in the States are starting to use them… I could go on and on explaining the breed, but frankly anyone who has an opinion on this legislation should know this information already.

Dog bites and attacks in Ontario did NOT go down after this ban. Please bring back the beautiful, loving, and loyal Pitbull to Ontario. Thank you.

Nicely put Robin… I have an idea, if the province is so concerned with dog bites why don’t they put a law in place that forces all dog owners to muzzel ALL breeds in public all the time… problem solved. I love pitbulls and the BSL was by far one of the most moronic non-educated legislation the Ontario government has passed. What’s next?? Witch trials?? How embarassing for us smart folk!
