Critical Propane Shortage: Hillier Calls On PM, Premier, Not To Leave Ontario Out In The Cold

(QUEEN’S PARK) Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston independent MPP Randy Hillier has written to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and demanded that action be taken to avert an impending province-wide propane shortage as we head into what is predicted to be one of the coldest winters in recent memory.

In a separate letter, Hillier calls on Ontario Premier Doug Ford to assist with pressuring the PM to use whatever legal and Constitutional authority he is endowed with to end the CN strike, which has put Ontario’s propane supply in significant jeopardy.

“The Canadian Propane Association advises me that Ontario only has a 1 day supply of propane reserves,” said Hillier. “This has the potential to have catastrophic effects on the people and businesses in my riding, as well as across Ontario.”

“A couple of winters ago we felt the impacts when one propane company ran out of supply, what happens when there is no supply at all?” asks Hillier. “I am calling on the Prime Minister to take immediate and necessary steps to ensure the people of Ontario are not left out in the cold.”
