Today I sat down in studio with Anna Maria Tremonti on CBC Radio's The Current to discuss my MPP Recall Legislation and the need for it in Canadian politics. Hillier speaks to the Small Business Act, 2013

Randy Hillier, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington, speaks to the Government's Small Business Act, 2013 and relays the actual concerns he has heard from small businesses. Reducing the number of small businesses that pay the Employer Health Tax is a good thing, but barriers like zoning laws, a lack of skilled and willing labour and high hydro rates are what's really killing small business in Ontario.

Hillier Introduces Petition Calling For Carleton Place Hospital Redevelopment

(TORONTO) - Randy Hillier, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington, introduced a petition in the Legislature calling for redevelopment funding for the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH). A lack of funding has hindered the hospital's ability to provide health services in this fast growing municipality. The petition has over a thousand signatures, and they keep coming in.

Hillier Introduces Recall Bill To Hold Politicians Accountable

(TORONTO) - Randy Hillier, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington, introduced a Bill that would hold politicians accountable to the citizens that elected them. The Election Amendment Act (MPP Recall), 2013 would give Ontario voters the opportunity to recall their MPPs and replace them. Recall elections are used in British Columbia, Wisconsin, California and several other jurisdictions as a way of making politicians accountable to the voters.

The maverick member of provincial parliament for Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington introduced a private member’s bill on Wednesday that would allow Ontario voters to recall and replace their MPPs.

Hillier introduces Bill to limit length of prorogation

One year after Premier Dalton McGuinty prorogued the Legislature, Randy Hillier, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington, has introduced a Bill to limit the length of time a government can prorogue by cutting off the taps. Right now, a government can have a prorogation lasting up to a year in length. This Bill, if passed, would limit the length of time that the Lieutenant Governor in Council could continue to pay for the government to 60 days since the last time it sat.
