Ontario disappoints in inaugural Canadian Property Rights Index

Last week the Manitoba-based Frontier Centre for Public Policy released its inaugural Canadian Property Rights Index. The aim of the index is to determine how each of Canada's provinces and territories protect property rights. Ontario tied with New Brunswick for 7th place with a score of 59%.

"I'm glad to see that institutions like the Frontier Centre are doing research like this," said Randy Hillier. "It's unfortunate that protections for property are so bad across Canada and especially in Ontario."

The Frontier Centre partnered with the Washington, D.C. based Property Rights Alliance to do the Canadian Property Rights Index. The index measures how governments deal with eight different indicators of protection.
