Bring Back Bill 16 for Third Reading

Despite passing Bill 16 through the Legislature at second reading with all party support, as well as passing through Committee, Dalton McGuinty killed Bill 16 when he prorogued the Legislature.

However, it is fully within Premier Kathleen Wynne's power to reconstitute Bill 16 as it was the day McGuinty prorogued. Tell the new Premier to put Bill 16 back on the Order Paper for Third Reading so that it can be voted on immediately. Sign the petition below and share with all of your friends and family.

A Petition to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario

WHEREAS currently the law takes the onus off of owners that raise violent dogs by making it appear that violence is a matter of genetics;

AND WHEREAS the Dog Owner’s Liability Act does not clearly define a pit bull, nor is it enforced equally across the province as pit bulls are not an acknowledged breed;

WE the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:

Discrimination is pretty much a form of racism, and it is not the way GOD intended us to live. As an owner of many breeds I can say that my black lab is by far the most protective dog ive owned over the 3 bulls and I’m a mother of 3 and own cats and other small animals with the breed. But also let me state that as an owner I am in control of my animals and am able to walk my dogs past anything that comes across our path at all times. There is no doubt in my mind that people voting against this bill obviously have suffered and are very broken in life and more than likely racist and for victims off attacks I do sympathize for you but to hold the hold breed accountable is just ridiculous. When someone has committed a crime do we hold them responsible or do we hold the whole city, race, etc. Of course not! Maybe we should pass a law that owners shall be held responsible for their pets and face charges when can be applied, and just maybe people might think twice about there reason for getting a certain breed and what they plan to do with it.
