In response to the statements made by Federal Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan and Ontario's Minister of the Environment Glen Murray identifying climate change as the cause of the conflict in Syria, Randy Hillier (Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox & Addington) has put forward a petition calling on the Ontario Government to expropriate it’s wind and solar energy assets for deployment in Syria.
“Ministers from both the federal and provincial government have made the definitive claim that climate change is the cause of the violent conflict in Syria,” said Hillier. “If this is the case, it seems obvious that Syria could benefit from having our wind and solar assets a lot more than we do.”
The petition calls on the Ontario government to encourage environmental activists to assist with the reconstruction of Ontario’s windmills and solar panels in the Middle East. In addition that the Federal Government contribute by paying for one way airfare.
“This is a Wynne-Wind solution, not only we can help put an end to the war in Syria but additionally we will be putting an end to high electricity cost here in Ontario” Hillier explained.
